Litro Live! will be hosting the first of its summer gatherings at the Serpentine Pavilion, in line with our second America issue.

Our special guest, the acclaimed author and essayist Geoff Dyer, will be reading from his novel Zona: A Book About a Film About a Journey to a Room. He will also be chatting to Litro Editor-in-Chief Eric Akoto about his recent road trip through America and other experiences across the pond.

Geoff Dyer is the author of Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi and three previous novels, as well as many non-fiction books including The Ongoing Moment (winner of the ICP Infinity Award for Writing on Photography), But Beautiful (winner of the Somerset Maugham Prize), and Out of Sheer Rage (a finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award).

Other guests, yet to be confirmed, will also be in attendance.

It is also a perfect time to appreciate art and design in our urban spaces. Yoko Ono will unleash her #smilesfilm exhibition at this year’s Serpentine Pavillion, designed by guest architect and acclaimed Chinese designer Ai Wei Wei, alongside the Swiss team Herzog De Meuron. Their collaboration will draw upon all past creations at the Pavilion, paying homage to the diverse and forward thinking architects and artists of the past twelve years.

Come and celebrate the summer with us (RSVP here), and expect your usual mix of Litro Live! readings, spoken word performances, live music… and who knows, perhaps an after party! Let’s hope for plenty of sunshine!

What is Litro Live?

Litro Live! has been running since November 2008. It is an evening of stories and music, bringing together writers, poets, musicians and fresh and exciting talent from the world of the spoken word. It features literary readings and poetry interspersed with live music and DJ sets. Most of all, Litro Live! is a chance to gather with friends and fellow literary fiends.

Litro Live! started as a monthly residency at Foyles Cafe on Charing Cross Road, which regularly attracted about 200 people. Now Litro Live! has launched it’s own mini summer festival in Hyde Park, and participated in a number of events throughout the year, including the annual Camden Crawl, as well as hosting summer parties and occupying spots throughout London to entertain guests and passersby – one year, we took over a corner of St. Pancras rail station!
